- Concerns about the killer's troubled upbringing were reportedly ignored.

In January 2025, 12-year-old Leo Ross was fatally stabbed in a park by 14-year-old Kian Moulton. Moulton, who had a history of behavioral issues, ADHD, and conduct disorder, committed the unprovoked attack and then pretended to be a witness. He was sentenced to life with a minimum of 13 years.
This killing followed three days of random violence by Moulton, including assaults on three elderly women in the same park. Moulton's troubled childhood was marked by school problems and escalating violence. Concerns about his home life, including alleged domestic abuse by his father, were raised with West Midlands and West Mercia Police in 2021 and 2024, respectively.
