Two days ago, on November 12, a man was discovered unresponsive inside a car on US Highway 97 in Orondo, Douglas County, approximately 17 miles north of Wenatchee. First responders attempted to save the man's life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that the man had sustained what appeared to be gunshot wounds, and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office began treating his death as a homicide. A day later, on November 13, a 16-year-old was arrested in Bridgeport and booked for second-degree murder in connection with the man's death.
The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort involving the Columbia River Drug Task Force, the Grant County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, East Cascades SWAT, East Wenatchee Police Department, and the Washington State Patrol, all of whom assisted the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in executing a search warrant on the Bridgeport home.
The identity of the victim has not been released, and it remains unclear how the teen and the man were acquainted. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the case to contact RiverCom Dispatch at (509) 663-9911.
