On September 23, 2025, a 17-year-old girl was tragically killed by her father in a suspected honor killing in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. According to the police, the girl, a Class 12 student, was shot dead by her father after she insisted on marrying a boy from another caste.
After the murder, the father packed the girl's body in a tarpaulin bag, tied stones to it, and threw it into a nearby river. The crime came to light after a neighbor informed the police that he had heard gunshots and screams from the house on the night of September 23, the day the girl went missing.
When questioned, the father initially tried to mislead the police, but later confessed to the crime. He claimed that his daughter had shot herself dead, and he had cremated her body by the Kwari river. However, the police investigation revealed the true nature of the incident.
The body was recovered from the river on Sunday morning, and the police have sent it for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary investigations suggest that the girl's father was enraged by her insistence on marrying a boy from a different caste and resorted to this tragic act of violence.
