A teen girl was seriously injured in an apparent attempted murder after a youth allegedly stabbed her for rejecting his romantic advances. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Kanyakulangara, near Vattappara. Vattappara police arrested the accused, identified as 21-year-old Sahad of Panavoor, late Tuesday as he attempted to flee with a relative.
The victim, a plus-two student, sustained deep injuries to her neck and face. She was rushed to Thiruvananthapuram Govt Medical College Hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable. Police suspect the attack was planned, stemming from Sahad's anger over the girl's repeated refusal of his advances. He allegedly intercepted her in a secluded area after waiting near her house.
Sahad, who has a criminal history including a Pocso case, fled the scene after the attack. His speeding car reportedly collided with another vehicle during his escape. Police recovered the alleged murder weapon and are examining CCTV footage. Sahad is expected to be produced before a magistrate on Wednesday.
