An 18-year-old high school athlete, Seth Jackson, was critically injured and left paralyzed from the waist down after being shot on the evening of March 19th. The incident occurred outside a Waffle House in Richardson, Texas, during a gathering of teens that escalated into violence. Jackson was attempting to assist a friend who was being attacked when he sustained gunshot wounds. He suffered a shattered spinal cord, fractured ribs, and a ruptured lung and aorta. Two individuals, 18-year-old Taylor Griffin and 17-year-old Charles Webster, were arrested a week later, on March 26th, and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Police stated the conflict began between two groups, and multiple individuals discharged handguns. The investigation remains active, with additional arrests expected. Jackson, a straight-A student and basketball player, faces extensive rehabilitation and a lifelong impact from the shooting. A GoFundMe has been established to support his recovery, having raised over $52,000 towards its $65,000 goal.
