A bank holiday trip to Barry Island in May 2026 turned tragic for a 17-year-old boy who suffered an unprovoked stabbing. The teenager, who was trying to de-escalate a situation between two groups, was allegedly stabbed in the leg without warning by 19-year-old Idris Ahmed. The attack resulted in a severe injury to a main blood vessel in his right leg.
Despite medical interventions, the blood flow to the leg could not be restored. Consequently, the 17-year-old underwent a through-knee amputation. Witnesses identified Ahmed, who reportedly fled the scene and discarded the knife. He denies charges of grievous bodily harm and possessing a knife.
