The driver, 26-year-old Stephen Mahebadevan, was operating his vehicle at 67mph in a 30mph zone when he mounted the pavement, hitting Freddie and seriously injuring his friend.
Mahebadevan admitted to causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and was subsequently jailed for 10 years in February. He also lied in an insurance claim, stating his car was damaged by another vehicle. Freddie's parents have expressed that they will never forgive the driver, citing his apparent lack of remorse.
