Summary
- Four teens charged with murder in shooting incident.
- Victim killed by fellow shooter during retaliation.
- Proposed stricter curfew for minors under 18.

On July 14, a tragic incident on Lewiston Avenue resulted in the death of 14-year-old Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston. He sustained fatal injuries after being shot during an event police believe was a retaliatory attack.
Four juveniles, including Tabius Joseph and Juandriqus Dempsey, have been charged with murder. Court documents suggest Sanders-Livingston was in a vehicle with others, participating in a shooting at a house, when he was accidentally struck by a fellow shooter.
One of the suspects reportedly admitted to leaving Sanders-Livingston behind after the shooting. The incident allegedly stemmed from a dispute involving a resident at the targeted house, who had earlier fired shots at the suspect's grandparents' home.
Investigators found Sanders-Livingston in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. Surveillance footage showed a car arriving at the scene, people exiting, and shots being fired at the residence. A stolen gun was recovered nearby, and no one was found inside the targeted home.
Following the incident, the suspects' vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant. In response to the rising youth violence, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has proposed a stricter curfew, requiring individuals under 18 to be indoors by 9 p.m., which will be voted on by the Charlotte City Council soon.
