Aundre Matthews, 18, has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of his 16-year-old classmate, Andrew Meismer. The incident occurred at Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, during a dispute over a $21 THC vape pen that Matthews believed Meismer had stolen. The confrontation escalated into a physical fight where scissors were allegedly used.
Matthews reportedly admitted to following Meismer to the restroom to confront him about the missing vape pen. He stated that Meismer punched him twice before Matthews retrieved scissors from Meismer's pocket and used them to stab him in the neck. A female student witnessed part of the altercation and alerted a teacher.
Matthews' bond was set at $3 million, despite arguments from his attorney citing his cooperation and lack of prior criminal history. The prosecution has requested an 11D hearing to potentially deny bond, with the hearing scheduled for January 6 or 7. The school district stated it addresses student behavior diligently within legal bounds.
