Teen Driver Admits Fatal Hit-and-Run in Stoke

A devastating hit-and-run incident in Stoke-on-Trent has resulted in a teenage driver admitting guilt for causing the death of a 17-year-old pedestrian. The victim, Alex Woodward, was fatally struck by a BMW 1 Series as he crossed Dawlish Drive on October 17.
The 17-year-old driver, whose identity is protected due to his age, appeared in court and pleaded guilty to several charges. These include causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and driving without a valid license or insurance.
The driver, who admitted to excessive speed and ignorance of speed limits, has been remanded in custody. Sentencing is scheduled to take place at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on February 25, bringing a measure of legal closure to the victim's devastated family.
