A New Mexico teenager is facing severe charges after allegedly plotting to murder his parents to secure his inheritance. Darren Munoz, 19, is accused of hiring his friend, 18-year-old Julio Zamora, to kill his father, Oscar Munoz, 58, and stepmother, Dina, 71.
The alleged plan came to light after police responded to a reported burglary at the family home in Clovis on December 15. Munoz initially misled officers about the events, but an acquaintance later informed investigators of a multi-week plot involving Munoz and his friends. Munoz’s girlfriend reportedly told police that he desired his father’s money, with Zamora agreeing to commit the murders in exchange for a share.
