In Surat, three friends have been formally booked for abduction and criminal conspiracy related to the disappearance of a 17-year-old boy. The teenager was last seen by his family on May 22, 2023. Initially, his family believed he had left home due to his temper, a pattern he had exhibited before. However, as months passed without his return, their hopes diminished.
A significant development occurred on January 25 this year when one of the accused, now 19, contacted a relative with information. This led to allegations that his two friends, who were minors at the time of the incident, were involved. Police questioned the trio and investigated a location near Rang Awdhoot Society, suspecting the boy may have been killed during an argument.
Extensive searches of a 5,000 sq ft area and a nearby well yielded no human remains. Despite the lack of evidence, police have proceeded with charges against all three, including the one who provided information. The investigation is now focusing on other leads, such as forensic tests on the accused and reviewing records of unidentified bodies from the relevant period.
