A schoolteacher in Ahmedabad has reported her identity theft through a fake Instagram account. The 38-year-old educator discovered that her photographs were being used on the fake profile. She learned of the impersonation when a colleague alerted her to a suspicious profile. The teacher stated she had not used her Instagram account for approximately four years. The fake profile was also sending friend requests to other teachers and engaging in conversations, raising concerns about potential defamation and misuse of her digital identity.
Following an initial report to the cybercrime helpline, a formal complaint was lodged with the Khadia police. Investigations are underway, focusing on technical evidence to identify the perpetrator and determine if others were similarly targeted.
