18 Mar
Summary
- Teacher sent a sexual message to a 16-year-old in 2016.
- The teacher was banned indefinitely from teaching in England.
- The ban followed a finding of unacceptable professional conduct.

A primary school teacher, Sarah Aldridge, has been permanently banned from the profession after a panel found she sent a message of a sexual nature to a minor. Aldridge, aged 50, who previously taught at Abington Vale Primary School in Northampton, was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct. The incident occurred in 2016 when she sent messages to individuals she knew were around 16 years old.
The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel concluded that the behaviour was sexually motivated, despite Aldridge's claims of duress. Her suspension began on August 23, 2018, following safeguarding concerns. Northamptonshire Police investigated but took no further action. The TRA panel emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding children, stating Aldridge's misconduct was serious and significant, even though the event occurred outside the school setting.
The ban was immediate and indefinite, prohibiting Aldridge from teaching in any school, sixth form college, youth accommodation, or children's home in England. An appeal can be made no earlier than 2027. The panel noted her failure to report the message for 18 to 24 months as part of the misconduct.
