Teacher Banned for Inappropriate Messages to Student
15 Feb
Summary
- Teacher sent inappropriate messages to a vulnerable pupil.
- She lied to investigators about the communication.
- Banned from teaching indefinitely for misconduct.

A teacher who sent inappropriate messages to a vulnerable pupil has been banned indefinitely from the classroom. Kaodi O'Loughlin Campbell, 34, previously taught at Elmwood School in Walsall, a special needs institution, between September 2021 and May 2022.
After leaving the school, Campbell began communicating with a former pupil via social media in January 2023. The pupil reported the contact in October 2023, triggering an investigation.
Investigators found messages where Campbell expressed liking the pupil and instructed him to delete their conversations. She initially denied any communication but later admitted to unacceptable professional conduct and bringing the profession into disrepute.
The Teaching Regulation Authority panel concluded that Campbell breached professional boundaries, potentially posing a risk. Despite acknowledging no direct harm occurred and accepting she acted without malicious intent, the panel noted her dishonesty in attempting to conceal her actions.
Concerns over a potential risk of repetition led to the indefinite ban. Campbell cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, or children's home in England and can only apply to lift the order in January 2028.
