Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay conducted a surprise inspection at Puzhal Central Prison, a significant correctional facility located outside Chennai. The Chief Minister also evaluated the vocational training programs offered, examining products created by prisoners, such as iron racks, paper covers, and items from the handloom and tailoring sections. He engaged directly with inmates to understand their requirements and gather feedback on their living conditions.
This inspection is part of a recent pattern of surprise visits by CM Vijay to government institutions. Previously, he made unannounced visits to a government children's hospital and a hostel for Dalit students, demonstrating his commitment to firsthand assessment and direct interaction with those reliant on public services.
Senior officials from the Prisons and Correctional Services Department accompanied the Chief Minister during the Puzhal prison visit. The inspection also extended to the M-3 Puzhal police station, where the functioning and records were reviewed.
