Takeoff's Parents Clash Over Settlement Funds

A contentious dispute has arisen between the parents of the late rapper Takeoff concerning the allocation of settlement funds from a wrongful death lawsuit. Titania Davenport, Takeoff's mother, is presenting a legal argument that Kenneth Ball, Takeoff's father, played a minimal role in their son's upbringing and life. She asserts that she was the sole parent responsible for raising Takeoff and provided nearly all his financial support until adulthood.

Court documents reveal Davenport's claim of a close relationship with her son, detailing how he financially supported her after achieving success in his music career. She contends that Ball provided negligible financial and emotional support. Ball, however, maintains his entitlement to half of the settlement money, regardless of his perceived absence. The legal fight is now focused on determining the appropriate venue for this division, with Georgia and Texas being considered.

Takeoff tragically passed away on November 1, 2022, at the age of 28, after being shot outside a Houston-area bowling alley. The individual accused of his murder, Patrick Xavier Clark, is slated to face trial later this year. A judge is expected to rule on the venue dispute in the ongoing settlement fund proceedings.
