- The couple claimed to practice witchcraft and form a coven.
- Boswell and Trail were convicted of murder and dismemberment.

The 2017 disappearance and murder of Sydney Loofe is being re-examined in a new docuseries. Loofe, a 24-year-old from Nebraska, vanished after a second date with Bailey Boswell. The series reveals that Loofe met Boswell and her boyfriend, Aubrey Trail, through Tinder. Trail allegedly told women he practiced witchcraft and needed a thirteenth member to complete his coven.
Testimony from other women involved in the group described strict "rules" under Trail's influence. These included being naked around him and participating in intimate acts with women in his presence. One survivor recounted Trail's disturbing claim of needing to "kill somebody and take their soul" to enter the "inner circle."
Loofe's remains were discovered dismembered on December 4, 2017, over two weeks after she was first reported missing on November 16, 2017. Boswell and Trail were ultimately convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and improper disposal of human remains. Court heard they discussed gaining powers through murder and torture.
During sentencing, Trail stated he killed Loofe out of fear she would expose his lifestyle. Boswell received a life sentence, while Trail was sentenced to death. The docuseries, premiering on Hulu on Thursday, October 22, explores the experiences of multiple women who felt trapped by the couple's influence.
