Summary
- Grandfather allegedly kidnapped and murdered due to mistaken identity.
- New CCTV footage shows men near the alleged stronghold.
- A $50 million ransom was reportedly the motive for intended target.

Police have released new CCTV footage as part of the investigation into the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian. The incident, which occurred around 5 am on February 13, is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.
The newly shared images show three men heading towards a property in Dural, on the city's outskirts, on the night of the alleged abduction. A blue Hyundai sedan was also seen at the same Dural location the following day.
Gerard Anthony Andrews, 29, and Daniel Stevens, 24, have been arrested and charged with offenses related to the kidnapping and murder. Court documents suggest the victim was taken to a makeshift stronghold in Dural. Police believe Mr. Baghsarian was murdered before 9 pm on February 14.
His body was allegedly discovered in bushland near Pitt Town approximately ten days later. Police suspect the intended target was a relative of Sydney businessman Dimitri Stepanyan, with a ransom of $50 million believed to be the motive. The family of Mr. Baghsarian described the event as a nightmare and expressed relief at the arrests.
Andrews and Stevens did not apply for bail and are scheduled to return to court on April 17. The lawyer for Gerard Andrews stated that his client was not the mastermind of the incident.
