A top Sydney fine dining establishment has accused a patron of sabotaging his meal by contaminating it with his own armpit hair, allegedly to avoid payment. The incident occurred at Pony Dining in The Rocks on a Wednesday night.
CCTV footage released by the restaurant appears to capture a man reaching into his armpit and then placing strands of hair onto his steak. His dining companions, a group of six, subsequently complained of finding hair in their food.
The restaurant stated that after the complaint, the group declined to pay for the majority of their meal, which amounted to nearly $600. They reportedly paid for drinks before departing. The venue has reported the alleged fraudulent act to the authorities.
Management expressed their disappointment with the patron's behavior, noting they had ordered expensive items, including a tomahawk steak. They decided to review security footage after observing the group acting unusually during their meal.
