- Dentist previously convicted of indecent assault in 2002.

A 62-year-old Sydney dentist, Maged Fouad Farag, is facing sentencing for five sexual offenses committed against three young women between 2019 and 2024. Under the guise of mandatory skin checks and massages at his practice, Farag touched victims inappropriately, with one instance involving sucking a nipple and another involving taking nude photographs. Two of the victims, who were on student visas from Nepal and Colombia, bravely shared their emotional testimonies in court.
The first victim, who was 18 at the time of the assault, described how the violation shattered her sense of safety and trust, particularly as she was new to Australia with limited support. She expressed determination not to be silenced by her experience. The second victim, also from Nepal, recounted being instructed to remove her clothing for a skin check, leading to unwanted touching of her body, including her genitals.
Farag has a history of sexual offenses, having been found guilty of aggravated indecent assault in 2002. Prosecutors highlighted that his recent crimes involved significant planning and a motive of sexual gratification, often masked by fraudulent professional pretexts. The defense suggested long-standing depression as a contributing factor, though the judge expressed skepticism. Farag pleaded guilty to aggravated non-consensual sexual touching, with sentencing scheduled for next week.
