The incident occurred in the Warasia area, where the two accused, identified as Fardeen Diwan and Saifuddin Diwan, attempted to attack one Umesh Sheikh. The victim was seen running for his life on the road as the accused chased him.
The entire episode took place in broad daylight, leaving commuters shocked. However, Sheikh managed to escape and flee the spot. Police launched an investigation and tracked down Fardeen and Saifuddin. During interrogation, it emerged that the two were friends of Sheikh and that a dispute between them had led to the attack.
Police have since seized the sword and dagger from the accused. Incidents of individuals brandishing weapons and engaging in assaults have been reported frequently in the city over the past few years, and authorities are working to address this ongoing issue.
