A 24-year-old SWAT commando with the Delhi Police, Kajal Chaudhary, who was four months pregnant, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, following an alleged brutal attack by her husband, Ankur Chaudhary. The incident occurred in southwest Delhi's Mohan Garden. Police have since added murder and dowry sections to the case after Kajal's family alleged dowry harassment.
Ankur Chaudhary was arrested shortly after the attack and is in judicial custody. He worked as a clerk for the Union defence ministry and has been suspended. According to police, he allegedly struck Kajal's head multiple times against a door frame and then assaulted her with a dumbbell.
Kajal's brother, Nikhil, a Delhi Police constable, stated in the FIR that Ankur and his family had repeatedly harassed Kajal over dowry, even after the birth of their son in 2024. Despite efforts to reconcile and arrange separate living quarters, the abuse persisted, leading Kajal to stay with her parents.
