A 30-year-old nursing assistant died under suspicious circumstances at a private hospital in Bareilly on Saturday. His family has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against his wife, her sister, and brother-in-law, alleging he was poisoned.
Family members stated that the deceased had been experiencing marital discord, leading his wife to stay with her sister. They claimed the wife and her relatives had been harassing him. The situation escalated when the nursing assistant visited his sister-in-law's home on June 30 to reconcile with his wife.
An argument reportedly ensued, after which he was found unconscious and taken to a private hospital, where he succumbed during treatment. Doctors informed the family about the consumption of a toxic substance, prompting their demand for action. However, a recently surfaced video suggests suicide may be a possibility, and the FIR was registered under BNS Section 108 (abetment of suicide).
Police inspector Sanjay Dhir confirmed that the body has been sent for postmortem examination. The investigation is ongoing, considering all potential scenarios including suicide, abetment to suicide, and murder by poisoning, pending the viscera report and other evidence.
