Authorities in Bulandshahr are investigating the suspected honor killing of Avdhesh Kumar, a 38-year-old sweet shop owner from Greater Noida. Kumar was allegedly beaten, given electric shocks, and forced to consume poison after being lured to the home of a woman with whom he had a two-year relationship.
The victim's brother reported that Kumar left his home on June 14 after repeated calls from the woman, identified as Manju. Family members later received information about his assault at her residence. They allege that Manju's husband, Kishan Kumar, his brothers, and associates confined Kumar, subjected him to torture throughout the night, and ultimately caused his death.
Police have registered a case against Manju, Kishan Kumar, his brothers Jeetu and Gulshan, Rekha Devi, and several unidentified individuals for murder, rioting, and poisoning. Currently, Manju and Kishan Kumar have been arrested, while a search is ongoing for the remaining accused. Post-mortem reports and forensic evidence are crucial for determining the exact cause of death.
