Authorities in Pima County are seeking a suspect in connection with a recent kidnapping and aggravated assault incident that occurred on May 29. This event took place less than seven miles from the home of Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona residence on February 1. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has urged the public to be on the lookout for the suspect.
A $1,000 reward has been posted for information that leads to the arrest of the individual sought in connection with the May 29 incident. Details of this alleged event have not been fully disclosed. It is important to note that there is no indication of a link between this case and the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing on February 1. She was last known to be home shortly before 10 p.m. the previous night. Her doorbell camera was disconnected around 1:47 a.m., and her pacemaker app lost connection at approximately 2:28 a.m. Blood droplets were discovered on her porch, and her daily medication was left behind, raising serious concerns for her well-being.
The FBI released doorbell camera footage in February showing a masked individual, armed with a gun, tampering with Nancy's doorbell device prior to her disappearance. The individual was described as wearing a balaclava, gloves, and a backpack. To date, no arrests have been made in Nancy's case, and no leading theories have been publicly shared by investigators.
Savannah Guthrie returned to her hosting duties on the Today show in April, after dedicating months to assisting with the investigation in Arizona. She has spoken about the difficulty of returning to work amid her mother's ongoing disappearance, describing her time on the show as a respite, and stating that her mother would have encouraged her to continue living her life.
