Suspect Dies After Dramatic Police Chase and Self-Inflicted Gunshot

A police pursuit on Sunday concluded with the death of a suspect wanted for serious crimes. The individual was being sought by Atlanta authorities for armed robbery and aggravated assault.
East Point police officers identified the suspect at a local food mart. When approached, he evaded arrest by carjacking two individuals and speeding away in their vehicle.
The chase ended abruptly when the suspect lost control of the stolen car, crashing into a power pole. He then exited the vehicle and, according to investigators, produced a firearm and fatally shot himself.
Paramedics rushed the suspect to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
