On November 13, 2025, the police received a call about an unidentified dead body of a woman found in the bushes alongside the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway (NH48). The Talasari police registered a murder case and launched an investigation.
The deceased was identified as Afsana Khan, a 25-year-old resident of Uttar Pradesh, who had married a 43-year-old truck driver named Sakirali Mansuri from Surat. The couple had gotten married when Mansuri had visited his native place in Uttar Pradesh.
While they were staying in Surat, Mansuri learned about his wife's alleged extramarital affairs, and the couple frequently quarreled. Last week, Mansuri took Afsana to a secluded spot under the pretext of going out, where he strangled her with her long scarf. He then dumped her body and fled the scene.
The police depended on both human and technical assistance to track down Mansuri. After following Afsana's details, they were able to locate and apprehend the accused from Gujarat. Mansuri was then produced before the court, which remanded him to police custody.
Palghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Yatish Deshmukh stated that this was a challenging case to crack, as there were no initial clues. However, the police team's focus on technical and human support ultimately helped them solve the murder.
