Will Dispute: Executor's Shifting Statements Raise Doubts

The inheritance dispute surrounding the Rs. 30,000 crore estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has taken a dramatic turn. Priya Sachdev Kapur, the late industrialist's third wife, is fiercely opposing a forensic examination of the Will that underpins her claim to his assets and the Sona Comstar Group. This scientific scrutiny, including handwriting and ink analysis, was sought by Sunjay's children from his prior marriage, who argue it is essential for verifying the Will's authenticity.

Further complicating matters, the purported executor of the Will, Shradha Suri Marwah, has provided conflicting accounts regarding how and when she received the document. Her admission of being unaware of her executor role and seeking indemnity from Priya have amplified suspicions. Legal experts note that resisting such forensic tests is unusual in high-stakes probate cases and could deepen doubts about a Will that excludes Sunjay's biological children.

The Delhi High Court is scheduled to address both the forensic inspection plea and the executor's amendment application on January 20, 2026. This date could prove pivotal in determining whether the contested Will truly reflects Sunjay Kapur's final wishes or crumbles under judicial examination amid allegations of forgery and conspiracy.
