A disturbing sexual assault occurred in Stowmarket on November 19th when a woman, in her 30s, was targeted while running on a path off Iliffe Way. The incident took place in the early morning hours, between 05:45 and 06:00 GMT. Suffolk Police had arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the assault and attempted rape.
However, investigators have since confirmed that the arrested individual has been eliminated from their inquiries and released without charge. This development leaves the case unresolved, with the perpetrator still at large. Police have reiterated their appeal for public assistance in identifying the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, wearing a dark woolly beanie and a thick dark rain jacket with dark trousers. He was also noted to have a strong smell of cigarettes and cannabis. Anyone with information is urged to contact Suffolk Police.
