Shannon Robinson, 51, has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of her 11-year-old stepdaughter in West Virginia. First responders discovered the emaciated girl unresponsive in her kitchen on February 16, 2025. The child weighed approximately 43 pounds and measured 47 inches tall, conditions medical examiners deemed inconsistent with her age. Her autopsy revealed she died from pneumonia, with failure to thrive as a contributing factor. She also exhibited signs of head lice and numerous bruises.
Investigators learned the girl had not received medical care since 2020, the year she moved in with Robinson. Witnesses reported Robinson admitting to withholding food from the girl as punishment, while other household members were given full meals. Robinson reportedly feared arrest for child abuse if she sought medical help for the child. The girl's father, Aaron Moran, was aware of her deteriorating condition.
