Thomas Morgan, 29, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 19 years for the murder of five-month-old Jensen-Lee Dougal. The attack occurred on March 30, 2024, while Morgan was solely responsible for the infant at their home in Clydach. Evidence presented at Swansea Crown Court revealed Jensen-Lee suffered severe injuries, including catastrophic brain bleeding and multiple rib fractures, akin to those from high-velocity impacts.
Morgan's defense claimed the baby had vomited and that he shook him to revive him. However, the prosecution argued that Morgan, agitated after a lengthy text argument with his ex-partner earlier that day, subjected Jensen-Lee to a violent shaking. Paramedics attempted resuscitation, and Jensen-Lee was rushed to the University Hospital of Wales, where life support was ended the following day, with his mother present.
Following the sentencing, Jensen-Lee's mother expressed her profound grief, stating her life is now a 'life sentence' of loss and pain. Detective Chief Inspector Lianne Rees commended the investigation team and acknowledged the immense strength of Jensen-Lee's family. Morgan has now been imprisoned for this terrible crime against a defenseless child.
