Florida Driver's Cancer Excuse Leads to Drug Bust
22 Oct
Summary
- Driver sped at 90 mph, claimed mom had cancer.
- Police found homemade fentanyl pills disguised as Xanax.
- Driver and passenger arrested, charged with drug offenses.

On October 8, at approximately 11:30 p.m., authorities in Hillsborough County, Florida, arrested Tosha Cisco, 23, and her passenger, Dillon Peterson, 30, following a traffic stop. Deputies observed Cisco driving at 90 miles per hour in a 50-mph zone. When questioned, Cisco initially claimed ignorance but later stated she was rushing to visit her mother, who has cancer. This excuse did not prevent her detention, especially after deputies discovered she lacked a driver's license.
Given the circumstances, including the lack of a license, deputies had probable cause to search the vehicle. The search yielded a substantial amount of narcotics from the trunk. Among the confiscated items were spice, THC oil and wax, various prescription medications, and crucially, "homemade fentanyl pills disguised as Xanax." Cisco was charged with possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and trafficking fentanyl. Peterson faced charges including possession of controlled substances and cannabis resin.
