Feds Arrest Four in Southern California Drug Ring
15 Apr
Summary
- Four family members arrested for drug and gun trafficking.
- Suspects allegedly sold fentanyl, meth, and firearms.
- Men face 10 years to life in federal prison.

Federal investigators have dismantled a cartel-linked drug and gun trafficking ring operating in Southern California, leading to the arrest of four men from the same family. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the charges, which include drug smuggling and firearms offenses.
José Luis Salazar-Cruz, Alfonso Salazar, and Jorge Humberto Salazar were taken into custody, with all reportedly being in the country illegally. Authorities are actively searching for a fifth individual, José Ángel López Paniagua, who faces identical charges. Prosecutors have leveled additional counts against some of the men, including offenses related to firearm possession and the distribution of methamphetamine.
The Justice Department detailed that the suspects were involved in selling a range of illicit substances, including fentanyl and methamphetamine. Evidence suggests that drugs were trafficked from Tijuana and Mexicali, with one suspect allegedly driving them across the border after receiving them from the Sinaloa Cartel. Furthermore, investigators reported that the suspects sold multiple firearms, including an untraceable AR-15, to an undercover agent.
If convicted, the arrested individuals face severe penalties, including a mandatory minimum of 10 years in federal prison, with the potential maximum sentence being life imprisonment.
