South Fulton Police Monitor Potential 'Park Takeover' Event
9 Mar
Summary
- South Fulton police are aware of a social media flyer for a park takeover.
- Officers will be present to address disruptive or unlawful activity.
- Parents are urged to speak with their children about responsible choices.

South Fulton officials have alerted the public to a potential "park takeover" event, organized via social media flyers, scheduled for Monday at Welcome All Park. The South Fulton Police Department is actively monitoring social media and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies. Interim Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric L. Alexander stated that while these gatherings begin as social media trends, they can rapidly escalate, creating unsafe conditions for attendees and the public. Police officers will be stationed in the area, prepared to respond to any unlawful activities. Similar "teen takeover" events have led to arrests and the recovery of firearms in other metro Atlanta areas, including incidents in Atlanta and Cobb County. In response to such incidents, some businesses and counties have implemented new policies. Atlanta's Cascade Skating Rink now requires individuals under 18 to be accompanied by an adult on weekends. Henry County recently enacted a curfew for those under 18 following similar concerns. South Fulton police are urging parents and guardians to have conversations with their children about making safe and responsible decisions, and they encourage participation in the South Fulton Police Athletic & Activities League (PAL) for positive engagement.
