In Pembroke Pines, Florida, a 24-year-old man, Jaylen Tyricq Holmes, was arrested on Sunday, February 2, 2026, on animal neglect charges. Officers were alerted by a neighbor concerned about several malnourished dogs left outside as regional temperatures dropped significantly. Upon arrival at the home on Southwest 122nd Avenue, police discovered three dogs—a French bulldog mix and two pit bull mixes—crammed inside a four-by-five-foot crate on an enclosed patio.
The dogs exhibited visible signs of severe malnourishment, with their bone structures apparent. At the time of discovery, the ambient temperature was 40 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind chill making it feel as cold as 23 degrees. The interior of the home was found in extreme disarray, emitting a strong odor of ammonia from accumulated waste, and no food or water was available for the animals.
