Brother Accused of Parents' Murder Speaks Out

Eight months after the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner, their son Jake Reiner has spoken publicly for the first time about the devastating loss and his brother Nick's arrest. Jake described the profound shock and grief following the December 14, 2025, stabbing deaths of his parents at their Brentwood home.

Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested on the same day his parents were found and has since been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty. Jake conveyed the immense difficulty of processing the loss, noting, "I physically lost my parents. And then Nick was arrested. And now it's me and Romy."

Both Jake and his sister Romy testified before the Los Angeles grand jury that indicted their brother. Prosecutors allege Nick used a knife and acted with premeditation, including lying in wait. Nick remains in custody without bail, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for September 15, 2026. He faces severe penalties if convicted.

In their parents' honor, Jake and Romy are supporting the Children's Institute in Los Angeles. The organization has established the Michele and Rob Reiner Champion for Change Award, with Jamie Lee Curtis as its first recipient. Jake previously detailed his experience in a personal essay, describing his life since the murders as a "living nightmare" and expressing heartbreak over missed future family milestones.
