A 42-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his mother, Helen Harrison, 59. The fatal incident took place at their family residence in Aspen Close, Market Weighton, East Yorkshire. Mrs. Harrison was discovered with fatal injuries on March 5, 2023.
Rick Parker, the son, was initially charged with murder. However, following comprehensive medical assessments, it was determined that he suffered from diminished responsibility at the time of the offense. This led to his change in plea.
Appearing via video-link at Hull Crown Court last week, Parker also admitted to a further charge of actual bodily harm, related to an assault on his stepfather. He is scheduled to be sentenced at the same court on April 9.
