Son Allegedly Killed Mom, Tried Gas Explosion Cover-Up

David Nguyen, 38, is accused of fatally killing his mother, 72-year-old Terrie "Tracy" Nguyen, and then attempting to destroy evidence of the crime. Police discovered Nguyen's body on December 27, following a wellness check requested by concerned family members. Her death was deemed suspicious and violent, with investigators later determining she died after "plastic wrap over her nose and mouth."

Authorities allege that David Nguyen, aware of his mother's death, attempted to conceal the homicide by activating unlit gas burners and leaving a lit candle in the house, intending to cause an explosion. He was identified as a person of interest and subsequently arrested on December 27 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol near Concordia, Missouri, after attempting to flee and crashing his vehicle.

Nguyen was initially charged with felony fleeing but later faced additional charges of murder with intent to kill or injure and concealment of homicidal death on New Year's Eve. He is currently held at the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department pending transfer to Illinois.
