In the Sohna area, a police encounter late on Wednesday resulted in the injury of Rashid, a 30-year-old man wanted for numerous theft and weapons charges. Rashid, a native of Deeg district in Rajasthan, was riding a motorcycle when a police blockade was set up near Raipur Naka based on intelligence. He allegedly fired two rounds at the police team after his motorcycle skidded and he attempted to flee on foot.
The police stated that Rashid's bullets narrowly missed an officer and hit a police vehicle's bumper. Following warnings and a shot fired into the air, police returned fire in self-defense, striking Rashid in the leg. The accused was then apprehended. A forensic investigation was conducted at the scene, where a total of four shots were fired, two by Rashid and two by the police.
Authorities recovered a motorcycle, a pistol, and four shell cartridges from the encounter site. Preliminary checks indicate Rashid is implicated in approximately 10 criminal cases across Nuh, Gurgaon, and Faridabad districts. The police emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards criminals who endanger public safety and attack law enforcement officers.
