In a remarkable display of canine capability, a Belgian Malinois sniffer dog from the Uttar Pradesh Police's squad has helped crack a murder case in Nishatganj. The dog's keen sense of smell led authorities to apprehend two individuals responsible for the death of Nirmala Devi, a 69-year-old woman.
Investigators utilized the Belgian Malinois to track scent trails from the crime scene, including the victim's belongings and areas showing signs of struggle. The dog successfully navigated through the house and outside, eventually pinpointing Rajan Sharma, 21, amidst a gathering of bystanders. This persistent identification prompted immediate questioning, leading to further revelations.
The investigation uncovered that Ranjana Verma, 36, and her lover, Rajan Sharma, murdered Nirmala Devi after she opposed their illicit relationship. They intentionally disabled the house's CCTV cameras for two hours to avoid detection. However, subsequent footage confirmed Ranjana leaving with Rajan, corroborating the dog's findings.
Initially, the accused attempted to mislead police by framing the incident as a robbery. Despite these efforts, inconsistencies in evidence and the sniffer dog's precise tracking led to their confession. Rajan admitted to disabling the cameras and conspiring with Ranjana to commit the murder, ending a four-year-long secret relationship that precipitated the crime.
