30 Jul
Summary
- Six new CCTV cameras installed to catch fly-tippers.
- Maximum fine for waste criminals increased to £5,000.
- Council provides details on local waste recycling centers.

Slough is enhancing its fight against illegal waste dumping with the installation of six new CCTV cameras. These cameras, which can be moved to problem areas, supplement the three already in operation. Footage from the council's year-long campaign has proven highly effective in identifying and penalizing fly-tippers.
Reflecting a government crackdown on waste crime, the maximum fine for offenders has surged by 400% to £5,000. This applies to individuals dumping household waste like mattresses and to organized companies. The council stated there is no excuse for fly-tipping, with free disposal options available at local recycling centers and licensed waste carriers.
The government also raised the maximum fine for street littering to £750. Slough residents have access to three household waste recycling centers: Chalvey, Burnham, and Langley, ensuring convenient and legal waste disposal options.
