A Mississippi family is plunged into grief for a second time after 19-year-old NyKel Poole was fatally shot outside her home on June 29. Her mother shared on a GoFundMe that this tragedy mirrors the murder of her older son ten years prior. Police responded to the shooting scene finding one deceased and two critically injured victims. Poole, an aspiring nurse who had recently begun her certified nursing assistant program, was identified as the deceased. Her twin brother was among those wounded in the incident and is in critical condition.
Authorities have arrested John Gaddis Ill, 34, in connection with the shooting. He faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing narcotics dispute between Gaddis Ill and one of the victims. Gaddis Ill is being held on a $2,000,000 bond. NyKel Poole was preceded in death by her brother, Ny'Gel Poole, who was fatally shot in 2016 at age 16 in Gulfport.
