Mumbai Police have summoned actor-director Siddhanth Kapoor to record his statement in connection with a major drug seizure case. The summons follows the interrogation of Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, a key accused in a staggering Rs 252 crore mephedrone seizure. Shaikh had implicated several film and fashion celebrities, a politician, and a relative of a fugitive gangster in his alleged rave party operations.
Kapoor, the brother of actress Shraddha Kapoor, is no stranger to drug-related scrutiny. He was previously detained in Bengaluru in 2022 on allegations of drug consumption. The Anti Narcotics Cell is also seeking a statement from influencer Orhan Awatramani, also known as Orry, who was requested to appear but sought more time.
Shaikh, identified as 'Lavish', was recently deported from Dubai and initially arrested in connection with the mephedrone seizure in Sangli, Maharashtra. The ongoing investigation by the Ghatkopar unit of the Anti Narcotics Cell aims to uncover the full extent of the alleged drug network involving high-profile individuals.
