A prolific shoplifter, Daniel Jones, aged 38, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for a string of thefts totaling £2,926.73 across four stores in Essex. His offenses, which included stealing Easter eggs, coffee pots, pet food, and detergents, spanned from April of the previous year to January 31, 2026. Jones was particularly targeted for Co-op stores despite a two-year criminal behaviour order prohibiting his entry. He was apprehended in February after police discovered him concealed within a divan bed at his residence as part of Operation Valuable, an initiative focused on prolific offenders. In addition to the 12-month sentence, six months of a previously suspended jail term were activated. Jones also received a £187 victim surcharge.
