- Shettys allegedly duped a businessman of Rs 60 crore in a deal.

Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty has strongly refuted allegations linking her to a Rs 60 crore fraud case, labeling the claims as a "mischievous attempt" to malign her. The case, involving the now-defunct home shopping platform Best Deal TV Private Limited, saw cheating charges added against Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra.
Businessman Deepak Kothari filed a complaint alleging the couple duped him of nearly Rs 60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal between 2015 and 2023. Shetty clarified her role was non-executive, with no operational or financial oversight, and stated she has not yet received payment for product endorsements.
Shetty asserted the allegations are legally unsustainable, particularly given the nine-year delay. She highlighted the distress caused by unwarranted claims impacting her dignity and reputation, vowing to pursue legal remedies. The investigation reportedly explored claims that a portion of the funds was paid to other actors.
