An illegal waste dump located on Rutland Road in Sheffield has been fully cleared as per a court order. The site owner, Austin Fitzgerald, director of Concept Investments Limited, received a £20,000 fine in April. This penalty followed an Environment Agency investigation into the illegal waste operation on his property.
The Environment Agency visited the site, which included heaps of used mattresses, furniture, and tyres, multiple times between 2022 and 2025. Fridges and other electrical items were also found among the waste. Fitzgerald pleaded guilty to permitting an illegal waste site to operate on his company's land.
Sheffield Magistrates' Court gave Fitzgerald one month to clear the extensive waste. Separately, Mohammed Tager, who operated the illegal waste site known as the Former Stanley Works, also pleaded guilty and is scheduled for sentencing in September.
