On July 17, a joint operation involving multiple agencies led to the rescue of over 50 animals from a property in Sharptown. Deputies discovered 43 dogs, three cats, five chickens, and one turtle in a pole barn under unsanitary conditions, lacking adequate water and exposed to extreme summer heat.
The animals were transported to the Humane Society of Wicomico County for emergency care. Shelter staff, volunteers, and a veterinarian worked to assess and treat each animal. The majority of these animals have since been signed over to the humane society.
This remains an active investigation, with authorities continuing to review the case. Criminal charges are pending, and no further information will be released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry. Most of the seized animals are anticipated to become available for adoption shortly.
