- Human remains found in a Niagara Falls basement identified as victim.

Richard Fox, 62, who was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment in November for the murders of Cassandra Watson and Marquita Mull, now faces an indictment for a third alleged killing. Authorities believe Fox is responsible for the death of Crystal Curthoys, 32, of Lockport.
Human remains, identified as Curthoys through dental records, were discovered in March. They were found wrapped in plastic and a tarp, boarded up under basement stairs at a Niagara Falls house where Fox had resided. Police had begun investigating Fox in January after his arrest for the earlier murders.
Fox had confessed to strangling Cassandra Watson between 2003 and 2004 and to killing Marquita Mull in June 2021. He admitted to leaving both their bodies near a remote spot in Portland, New York. Fox is currently held without bail pending his next court appearance.
