Scottsdale authorities have announced an increased police presence for a Chanukah event scheduled for the evening of December 14th. Councilmember Adam Kwasman confirmed that additional officers will be stationed at the menorah lighting ceremony, which is set to take place at the Scottsdale Quarter.
The event, organized by Chabad of Scottsdale, is proceeding with a strong resolve. Organizers shared a message of solidarity, stating, "We will stand stronger and prouder than ever before! We must show up and shine brighter."
This decision comes in the wake of a tragic mass shooting that occurred earlier on December 14th during a Hanukkah event on Sydney's Bondi Beach, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The attack, which occurred on the first day of Chanukah, has been declared a terrorist incident.
